Stupid non-sense info ... |
Here's an anonymous article on Las Vegas voiceovers and voice talents for appearing on the web ... this will probably just confuse you, so don't worry about it ...
"Las Vegas is a great town and a wonderful place for
voiceover work and good voice talents. If you're an announcer or narrator, you
could do worse. I've been to Las Vegas quite a bit for VO and announcing gigs
and love it every time! The best part is, once your job is done, you get to go
out and play! There are several VO gigs I can tell about that I really loved!
One voice talent job near Las Vegas was for, yep, you guessed it -- a "house of
ill repute." Fact is, that voiceover job was hilarious and fun! Plus, the models
were quite pretty (although my beautiful British wife is much prettier). Another
great one is being the stage announcer for live concerts and shows. In this
respect, its where I really shine for voice talent.
All this sounds great, but even a professional top-notch
voice talent will face some serious competition in the Las Vegas area. You can
do your best to try and beat the announcer competition to the voiceover punch,
but a big factor is always going to be something you can't really control ...
what KIND of VO or narrator sound the Las Vegas client is looking for. However,
there are some things you can do to increase your voiceover job chances. Those
include having a truly professional sounding voice talent demo. If your Las
Vegas voiceover demo sounds bad or amateurish, you won't even get past the trash
bucket. Second, try to be among the first to audition or send a demo for that
announcer or voiceover VO gig. Next, be on time and dress appropriately. As
Always, first impressions last a long time. If you're late for a gig or you look
all dishoveled, the Las Vegas voice talent client probably won't be calling you
back. And finally, act professional! Use your manners and don't get upset when
the VO client criticizes your voiceover or announcer work. Critics can be a good
way of getting some helpful self improvement voice talent tips.
Back to
Las Vegas. I love doing voiceovers in the neon capital of the world. And I must
admit, I do love doing a little gambling ... which brings me to my next point.
Don't be afraid to gamble a little when audtioning for that Las Vegas announcer
or voice talent gig. Give them your best voiceover, but be open to having fun
and throwing in some other voices that you may have in your VO bank. When
doing voiceovers in the Vegas area, I love going out and geeting into some of
the great restaurants there. After my voice talent or announcer gig is complete,
I love going to places like Ellis Island, just off the strip. Great food, great
prices ... plus they make their own beers and ales! Let me tell you, nothing
feels better to the overworked voiceover talent or announcer, narrator's throat
than an ice cold smooth ale pouring over those hot and scrtachy vocal chords.
So, if you're in Las Vegas and you hear a big booming great-sounding voice,
that's probably me! Stop by and say hello!"
